Today we began our unit on figurative language--we started with similes! As a refresher, a simile is a comparison of two things using the words "like" or "as." We listened to a catchy song by Lenka called "Everything At Once"--want to hear it again? Here you go! The song contains 39 similes!
Here is your homework:
Periods 3/4 and 8/9: Finish your simile poem outline (following the format below). Also, complete the section called, "Choosing the Right Word" on pages 37-38 (all!). Remember, September Bingo is due on Thursday!
Period 7: Finish your simile poem outline (following the format below). Remember, September Bingo is due on Thursday!
Simile Poem Outline:
As ________ as a(n) _______, as ________ as a(n) ___________
As ________ as a(n) _______, as ________ as a(n) ___________
As ________ as a(n) _______, as ________ as a(n) ___________
As ________ as a(n) _______, as ________ as a(n) ___________
The similes should describe what you hope to be like when you are older (in other words, a grown up). Think of qualities that you want to describe you--and then think of things that are great examples of that quality.
