As you learned in class today, there are THREE different types of irony. They are:
Verbal Irony: Duh! This is sarcasm--it's when you say something and you actually mean the opposite! "Oh my goodness, I just LOVE extra homework!"
Situational Irony: This is when something happens that is the opposite of what you expect to happen--like movies with surprise endings or a fire station burning to the ground. You don't expect it!
Dramatic Irony: This is when you (the reader, the watcher, the audience) knows something that the characters don't--like the movie Titanic--you know the ship is going to sink, but the characters don't!
All Periods: Make sure you know the three types of irony for your quiz tomorrow. There is no reading log due this week and May Bingo is due on Friday!
